About Tucker Fallon the YACHTBROKERGUY
Tucker Fallon has spent years on the water. After growing up in the Massachusetts coastal town of Scituate, he obtained his USCG captains license in 1973. Having worked as captain of both commercial vessels and yachts, he has the knowledge about the features and the functions of a yacht from hands on experience. Some of the commercial vessels were used for oil exploration, oceanography, passenger tours and even a whale watch boat.
The first time he worked a boat show was in 1975, while employed in the service department of a boat dealer in Boston. Many years later, after some land jobs including operations manager for a yacht club, he joined the staff of Milford Boat Works in Milford, CT as a boat broker, but was sidetracked with an offer to be captain on a yacht doing corporate charters. The next boat sales job was with Bassett Boat, a Sea Ray dealer, then sales manager with Marineland, a multi location new boat dealer, and then on as a yacht broker at Cedar Island Marina in Clintion, CT.
After returning to Florida, he worked again as a captain on private yachts, then back to yacht sales at Rex Yachts in Fort Lauderdale. In this period he started Ship's Wheel, Inc. which specialized in instructions for boat owners, and to this day offers free instruction to boat owners, to help them learn about and how to operate their new boats. In may of 2006 he joined Bradford Marine Yacht Sales (formerly known as The Shipyard Group) as a yacht broker. In April 2008 he became a CERTIFIED PROFESSIONAL YACHT BROKER, this is a program initiated by the Yacht Brokers Association of America, The Florida Yacht Brokers Association, The California Yacht Brokers Association, The Pacific Northwest Yacht Brokers Association and the Ontario Yacht Brokers Association. These associations wanted a program to enable the buying public to find brokers who have been in the business at least three years (I have sold boats for 12), and have passed a rigorous test on transactions, laws, and techinical knowledge of boats and yachts. There are only around five hundred brokers nationwide who have attained this certification. In Broward County, Florida, which is the area around Fort lauderdale, there were 1123 licensed brokers and salespeople as of Feb 1, 2008. Of those 1123, only 25 have been certified.
